Transparency

"Where is transparency present in nature? I found visual connections between the skeletal makeup of trees, chrysalises, wings, leaves and skulls. Throughout this inquiry, I took an abstract approach emphasizing contrast, value, and negative space in the natural world. As my inquiry evolved, I explored how x-ray and macro/microscopic imagery could inspire an emotional response. Nature is something we are a part of, but don’t always analyze at an up-close scale. I feel a personal connection to the earth and the art that it creates and wanted to represent this relationship through the investigation. The discovery of photography as a medium helped evolve my inquiry as I started to look at nature on a macroscopic level. It emphasized where I have always seen visual connections in nature."
